On September 7, 2016, CFRA announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Equity and Fund Research business from S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI). As CEO, I along with the rest of the CFRA team, are incredibly excited about this opportunity. With this acquisition, CFRA will become the largest institutional-grade, independent equity and fund research firm.
Most importantly, our combined clients will significantly benefit from this acquisition through:
- Enhanced Quality: By combining proven fundamental equity and funds research with CFRA’s in-depth forensic accounting methodology, we are setting a new and unique standard of independent research from which all market participants can benefit.
- Improved Scale: With over 65 investment research professionals spanning New York, Washington DC, Hong Kong, London, Denver, and Kuala Lumpur, CFRA is positioned to cover the 1,500 global companies that matter most with differentiated qualitative research. In addition, our quantitative research will cover 17,000+ global companies.
- Expanded Performance: Research and insights are only as good as the results they produce. CFRA prides itself on the stellar performance of its Biggest Concerns portfolio, which will be complemented by the exceptional performance of S&P Global Market Intelligence Investment Research’s STARS portfolio.
- Continued Value: There will be no disruption to the products and services enjoyed by our clients today. In fact, this acquisition is driven by our commitment to innovation. We are building and investing in our people and company to be the world’s leading independent research provider, while delivering greater idea generation and risk management services to our clients.
Over the past 24 years, CFRA clients have come to trust CFRA’s battle-tested methodology to deliver consistent outsized investment performance and risk management solutions. With the addition of S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Equity and Fund Research, which has produced independent equity research for nearly 100 years, the new CFRA is positioned to expand our innovation and partnership with clients including the world’s leading institutional investors, wealth advisors, insurance companies, regulators, and professional service organizations.
